There has been significant growth in big data technology in healthcare in recent years. However, the potential of big data analytics is affected by various ethical and security concerns, which have hampered the application of big data analytics in healthcare. Recently, numerous studies have been conducted on the emerging big data ethical issues in healthcare. While most of the journal reflects on privacy and security questions, it did not examine; objectively the possible discriminatory impact of big data analytics has no. This mixed-method project aims to highlight various ethical problems in big data analytics while also providing an in-depth insight into the biased results derivable from big data analytics and the effects of such outcomes.
With the growing popularity of the Internet of Things, smart home applications are developing gradually and bring convenience to users' lives. In this paper, first, an overview of IoT and widely agreed and accepted three-layer architecture of IoT are introduced. Next, this paper discusses the basic features of the smart home and data analytics in a smart home with the benefits and analysis process. Security and privacy are the key ethical problems in the smart home, such as security attack, analysis of "non-sensitive" data, improper information collection and data abuse. Additionally, the user perception of privacy issues is included in this paper. Furthermore, this paper recommends suitable suggestions for improving ethical issues.
FinTech (Financial Technology) and Blockchain are prevalent topics among technology leaders in finance today. This article describes the impact and revolution of FinTech and Blockchain in the financial industry and demonstrates the main characteristics of such technology. Then, we present three critical challenges as well as three ethical issues about using Blockchain technology. Next, we discuss the development of Blockchain for the financial sector. In addition, we describe the real motivations for banks to explore Blockchain, and problems they face. In order to have a good understanding of the industry, a qualitative method was adopted, and sixteen experts were interviewed. It was identified that knowledge hiding in Blockchain was common and the rationale behind was analyzed using the TPB (Theory of Planned Behavior) approach. The analysis results suggested that knowledge hiding was due to affective, behavioral and cognitive evaluations. The interviewees also provided several recommendations and success factors to overcome current issues in Blockchain adoption. Therefore, four important propositions have been developed. Finally, this article suggests how financial services should respond to this new technology and how to manage knowledge sharing in a more structured way. This article contributes to the literature related to the current entrepreneurial finance landscape for Blockchain.
Nowadays, Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT) are one of the most popular topics. This review paper demonstrates an overview of the application of Big Data and IoT in banking institutions. In the beginning, a brief definition of Big data and IoT is provided and the integration of technologies by banks is illustrated. Then, this paper explains the potential sources where banks could generate Big Data. Next, the major works that banking institutions use Big Data are listed. In the final two parts, some acute ethical concerns are raised and appropriate solutions are suggested for the banking industry and other organizations.
Big data technology has grown rapidly in recent years, and increasingly applications of this magic in all kinds of occupations bring out a series of effects, be they positive or negative. The airline industry, one of the biggest data producers, has prevailing advantages to utilize big data technology. It assists airline companies to optimize the process of booking, ordering and luggage tracking. Meanwhile, due to the huge amount of data generated, it is possible for them to predict flight delays and then provide better services for consumers. However, the application of big data in the airline industry also results in privacy and ethical issues. Users' information is tracked without permission and several immoral companies overly collect irrelevant personal private data. More disappointing thing is that some airline companies are not able to protect users' information, which causes bad damage on both company values and reputations and consumers’ benefits. As it turns to the ethical issues, the case of United Airlines incident makes people aware of the further needed improvements for overbooking system. And it is also necessary for merchants to reconsider the unfair price strategy.
