In Ayurveda, the commonly used term is Pariksha. Pariksha means viewing or examining an object from all sides and aspects. There are different synonyms for Pariksha like Pramana, Jnana, Upalabdhi. Before prescribing medicine or treatment for an individual, the examination is the basic primary tool used to define both Rogabala and Rogibala. The purpose of Pariksha is to obtain knowledge regarding the line of treatment that should be adopted to correct the morbidity. Hence, a patient should be examined with the help of Prakruti, Vikruti, Sara, Samhanana, Pramana, Satmya, Satwa, Aharashakti, Vyayamashakti and Vaya. These ten factors are considered Dashavidha Pariksha, which helps determine the Rogabala and Rogibala of the individual. Pariksha should be done systemically to get the outcome effectively. It is essential to know the individual's condition to carry out proper treatment modalities.
Hashimoto's thyroiditis is chronic inflammation of the thyroid gland due to the formation of autoantibodies. It is an autoimmune disorder that would lead to hypothyroidism. Failures of host defense do occur, however, and fall into three broad categories: immune deficiencies, autoimmunity and hypersensitivities. Ayurveda has a unique approach in treating the auto immune disorders through Shodhana and Rasayana Therapies. Due to Nidana Sevana, Kapha - pitta vata dushti takes place leading to Jatharagni Vaishamya and Ama Utpatti. This causes Asamyak Ahara Pachana, Rasavaha Srotodushti, Rasa Dhatwagni Vaishamya leads to Uttarottara dhatwagni and Dhatu Vaishamya. When Agni becomes too low, metabolism is affected. Shodhana karma has a great efficacy in Sroto-shodhana and in turn it corrects the functioning of Jatharagni, dhatwagni Srotas and Doshas. The present case study includes a female patient of 26 years age suffering from Hashimoto's thyroiditis complaints of gradual increase in size of swelling over neck for 3 years She was treated with Shodhana and Shamana Aushadhis for 3 months and found effective in reducing the levels of antibodies.
IN BRIEFDiabetic peripheral neuropathy affects up to 50% of older type 2 diabetic patients. Whereas some patients may have extremely painful symptoms, others with a more marked neuropathic deficit may be asymptomatic. Diagnosis requires careful examination of the lower limbs. Management involves establishing that the neuropathy is caused by diabetes instead of more sinister causes and aiming for optimal glycemic control. Medications, usually tricyclic drugs or anticonvulsant agents, may be required. Patients with peripheral neuropathy must be considered at risk of insensate foot ulceration and must receive preventive education and podiatric care.

The color of the skin plays very important role in the society especially in India.Switra is a hypopigmentary disorder of skin.Based on the symptoms, Switra can be correlated to Vitiligo of modern science. This Vitiligo affects the estimated 1% of world's population. In the present study 22 cases of Switra were sampled in to 2 groups with 11 patients in each group. The first group of patients received Sramsana therapy followed by internal medicine and lepa.Patients of second group received only lepa.In first group moderate improvement was seen in 72.73 % patients and mild improvement seen in 22.27 % patients. In test group marked improvement was seen in 18.18 % patients whereas marked improvement was observed in 63.64 % patients and mild improvement in 18.18 % patients. When the results of the two groups were compared with unpaired't' test statistically non-significant was obtained which proves the application of lepa alone can produce repigmentation in the mandalas by decreasing their number and size.
