Blockchain technology is a rapidly emerging technology that has attracted widespread attention in recent years. Given that new technology plays a crucial role in driving innovation, this paper investigates whether blockchain technology has a positive impact on corporate innovation. We provide robust evidence that blockchain significantly enhances corporate innovation with a multi-period difference-in-difference model using data from Chinese listed firms between 2010 and 2020. We also discuss possible mechanisms of how blockchain increases innovation. Specifically, the reduction of transaction costs and the enhancement of supply chain financing capabilities are identified as plausible channels for the influence of blockchain on innovation. Heterogeneity analysis shows the positive relation is more pronounced in regions with higher intellectual property protection and marketization. Our findings have important policy implications, suggesting that fostering the development of new technologies can facilitate corporate innovation.
In this paper, we investigate the impact of digital finance on corporate innovation based on Chinese A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2017. We find that digital finance has a significant promotion effect on corporate innovation. The development of digital finance promotes enterprise innovation, increasing the number of patent applications and authorizations. The development of digital finance mainly promotes corporate innovation through two channels. First, digital finance improves bank competition and credit availability to promote corporate innovation; second, digital finance reduces financing constraints and financing costs of enterprises to promote corporate innovation. We also conduct a rich set of robustness tests and obtain consistent conclusions.
The capital market opening policies of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect offer international investors an approach to investing directly in Mainland China stock markets. In this paper, we investigate the impact of the capital market opening policies on the stock price crash risk in China. With a dynamic difference-in-difference (DID) model, we find that capital market opening policies significantly reduce the stock price crash risk with a dynamic difference-in-difference (DID) model. Also, we study the influence mechanism of the capital market opening to reduce the stock price crash risk. We find that the capital market opening policies reduce the stock price crash risk by improving corporate gover-nance and increasing information transparency. Furthermore, we find that the effect of the capital market opening policies is more pronounced among state-owned companies and high-tech industries.
As the two largest economies in the world, the investor sentiment and stock return of China and the United States are the focus of global attention. In this paper, we study the dynamic spillover effects of investor sentiment and return between China and the United States. First, we use the relative price differences of 9 dual-listed companies in China and the United States simultaneously to verify whether investor sentiment affects stock returns. We find a significant positive correlation between the relative price difference of dual-listed companies and the difference of investor sentiment, indicating that the investor sentiment index indeed affects stock prices. Next, we construct the TVP-VAR model to study the dynamic spillover effects of investor sentiment and the return between China and the United States. Through the time-varying impulse response, we find investor sentiment has a significant dynamic impact on returns. Therefore, investment sentiment contagion and stock market linkage between China and the United States are obvious. In addition, we conduct various robust tests, and all results are consistent.
Due to the increasing linkage of China and the US stock markets today, we constructed a TVP-VAR model to study the dynamic spillover effects between the US stock volatility and China’s stock market crash risk. We found dynamic spillover effects are constantly strengthening between US stock volatility and China’s stock market crash risk: when the US stock volatility increases, China’s stock market crash risk increases. In addition, the gradual improvement of financial market openness in China, the short-term capital outflow from China, and the depreciation of the RMB exchange rate will increase China’s stock market crash risk. And, the impacts of short-term capital outflow from China are more significant. Further, the increase in China’s stock market crash risk will lead to the decline of the US stock volatility, which may be due to the flight to quality.
Conscious capitalism is a new concept gaining popularity in the western business world. New Confucianism is the adaptation of thousand years old Chinese philosophy used in modern business practice. After examining closely, the four principles of conscious capitalism, we found its recommendations coincide a lot with the ancient teaching of Confucianism. Thus, we conducted a detailed comparison between these two systems from three aspects: values, developing process, and practices. The conclusion is that the two systems overlap the most in their value propositions. There are differences in practices and methods of implementation. Nonetheless, both concepts have been proven successful in many case studies. It would be beneficial to modern society if the conversation on these two important concepts can continue.

ABSTRACT This paper presents a theoretical model based on the Technology Acceptance Model combined with a perceived trust model. SPSS 23 and Amos 22 were used to analyze Chinese tourists’ responses regarding use of biometric technology in hotels and to assess whether their perception of trust – measured through five potential factors – affected their intention to use it. Chinese tourists traveling in Macau were recruited, and three types of biological identification technology were discussed. A total of 600 questionnaires were sent out, and 583 effective questionnaires were recovered. The results that in addition to perceived ease of use, other factors affected visitors’ perceptions of trust. The degrees of effectiveness, however, differed between the three biological identification technologies. Fingerprint technology was revealed to be the most trusted and accepted biometric technology.
In this study, a demand-oriented multi-objective planning method is proposed for electronic product technology development. The proposed method uses the analytical hierarchy process to analyze the relative importance of each customer demand. Subsequently, quality function deployment is used to analyze the relationships between customer demands and product technologies, as well as for evaluating the customer satisfaction level for each electronic product that is being implemented. By using a model to identify the life-cycle stage of the product technology, each electronic product technology is classified in order to determine how to obtain the technology. A multi-objective evaluation model of planning strategies is obtained for electronic product technology development to evaluate the performance of different planning strategies. A multi-objective genetic algorithm is utilized to help companies efficiently establish an optimal planning strategy for electronic product technology development with the maximum customer satisfaction level and minimum product development cost. Finally, a case study of a green smart phone development project is provided to demonstrate and verify the practical contributions of the proposed method. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
Modern business intelligence systems depend highly on high quality data. The core of data quality management is to identify all possible sources of data quality problems. To achieve this goal, an extensive metadata infrastructure is the most promising solution. Through theoretical metadata model investigation, the authors identified a set of data quality dimensions by carefully examining the data quality management principles and applied those principles to current BI environment. They summarize their analysis by proposing a BI data quality framework.
This paper has two research objectives. First, it adopts the Information, Communication, Transaction, Relationship, and Technical Merit model to evaluate Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) web sites from five East Asian countries. Second, it examines the relationship between website complexity and performance. The results indicate that the five selected DMO websites have not fully utilized information technology in their business operations. All five websites have performed reasonably well on the information and communication dimensions. However, three web sites perform poorly in the transaction dimension. Among the five selected countries, the Korean DMO’s website received the highest score for effectiveness, followed by the Japanese, Thai, and Hong Kong websites. The Macau DMO’s website received the lowest score for effectiveness. In addition to evaluating website effectiveness, this study found a linear relationship between website complexity and performance. Also there are significant performance variances among the DMOs’ websites across different countries.
Online social networks (OSNs) are quickly becoming a key component of the Internet. With their widespread acceptance among the general public and the tremendous amount time that users spend on them, OSNs provide great potentials for marketing, especially viral marketing, in which marketing messages are spread among consumers via the word-of-mouth process. A critical task in viral marketing is influencer identification, i.e. finding a group of consumers as the initial receivers of a marketing message. Using agent-based modeling, this paper examines the effectiveness of tie strength as a criterion for influencer identification on OSNs. Results show that identifying influencers by the number of strong connections that a user has is superior to doing so by the total number of connections when the strength of strong connections is relatively high compared to that of weak connections or there is a relatively high percentage of strong connections between users. Implications of the results are discussed.
Information technology (IT) acts as an important role in the hospitality and tourism industries. Without the IT department providing effective IT relating services, the employees can't offer the quality of service to their customers. In this study, casino employees are the main subject of the investigation. The purpose is identifying the improvement priority among those IT service quality attributes provided by IT department, and the questionnaire has adopted the importance-satisfaction model (I-S model) as the major research model. The result has also demonstrated some service items need to be improved.
目的:探讨神经细胞黏附分子(NCAM120、NCAM 140和NCAM 180)在小鼠脊髓撞击伤后的表达.方法:采用改良NYU(纽约大学)Weight-Drop Impactor打击装置制备脊髓损伤(SCI)模型(打击面积为2mm×2 mm).SA小鼠随机分为实验组和假手术组.实验组按7个时间点分别进行实验,免疫组织化学和免疫印迹检测各时间段脊髓组织NCAMs,进行图像分析及统计学处理.结果:免疫组织化学显示,NCAMs主要分布在脊髓后角灰质的Ⅰ板层及其交界浅层Ⅱ板层.各节段背根节(DRG)内大部分神经细胞膜及脊神经后根可见NCAMs的强阳性表达,而脊神经前根的表达为阴性.免疫印迹显示损伤节段3种NCAMs的表达高峰出现在损伤后4h,表达量接近正常的2倍,之后急剧下降;邻近损伤区的头尾脊髓节段NCAMs的表达高峰分别出现在损伤后16h和14 d.结论:损伤区脊髓组织中NCAMs的表达下调可能与脊髓损伤后投射至脊髓后角Ⅰ/Ⅱ板层内的DRG轴突Waller's变性和再生困难密切相关.脊髓损伤后,NCAMs各亚型于脊髓损伤区及邻近损伤区头尾脊髓节段有明显的动态变化过程,提示NCAMs可能与脊髓可塑性密切相关.
Fraud‐related auditing standards define professional skepticism as a questioning mind or, according to Nelson, presumptive doubt, and advocate its exercising in fraud risk evaluations of evidence. The present experiment assessed auditors' mental perspective toward interviewees under levels of deception risk. Auditors judged informational veracity after observing an interviewee who, in actuality, was lying. In the experimental condition of high deception risk, the interviewee could gain financially from successful deception, and red flags suggested the possibility of deception. The percentage who incorrectly believed the interviewee was around 70 percent regardless of deception risks. These results suggest the prevalence of presumptive trust, as opposed to presumptive doubt. Its prevalence in conditions of deception risk may reveal a general reluctance among auditors to undertake deception detection in audit interviews, an attitude that could compromise authoritative calls for auditors to do so for fraud risk assessment.
Data quality management is a pressing issue in the adoption and implementation of Business Intelligence system in every organisation. We believe that an extensive metadata infrastructure is the primary technical solution for management of data quality in Business Intelligence. We derived a set of data quality dimensions by carefully examining the data quality management principles and current BI environment. Then, a high-level metadata framework is proposed.

BACKGROUND:Preliminary studies in workgroup indicated that glial-derived neurotrophic factor(GDNF) gene modified by bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs)(BMSCs/GDNF) can stably express the mRNA of GDNF,but whether GDNF protein in BMSCs/GDNF affects neurons subjected to anoxia-reoxygenation positively is unclear.OBJECTIVE:To observe the protective effects of BMSCs/GDNF on neurons subjected to anoxia-reoxygenation.METHODS:BMSCs/GDNF were co-cultured with anoxia-reoxygenation nerve cells.Hoechst33258 staining was used to detect apoptosis of neurons.Immunofluorescent-chemistry method was used to detect growth-associated protein-43(GAP-43) expression in co-cultured cells.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The rate of neurons apoptosis in the BMSCs/GDNF group was lower than that of the BMSCs group and anoxia group(P < 0.05).Absorbance of growth-associated protein-43(GAP-43) expression in the BMSCs/GDNF group was higher than that in the BMSCs group(P < 0.05).It is indicated that BMSCs/GDNF have neuroprotective effects due to inhibiting apoptosis of neurons subjected to anoxia-reoxygenation and increasing GAP-43 expression in co-cultured cells.
