个人简介
After completing my bachelor’s degree, I began working for SmithKline BioSciences working as an associate scientist running diagnostic tests (ELISA, Immunodiffusion assays, various biochemical analyses) on human clinical samples for hospitals throughout the Los Angeles, California region. Later I began work for International Genetic Engineering in Santa Monica, California gaining extensive experience working with recombinant DNA. After finishing a 3 year period there, I entered graduate school and completed my Ph.D. (1998) in the fish pathology lab at the University of California, Davis under the guidance of Professor Ron Hedrick. Since 1991 I have been working in fish health related projects (pathology, immunology, nutrition, diagnostics) applying techniques from the fields of molecular biology and microbiology, especially the development of DNA-based diagnostics. I have presented original research at national and international conferences and provided university level lecture material in the capacity of adjunct lecturer. My collective teaching and research experiences encompass a broad range of topics relating to the biodiversity and health of a variety of aquatic organisms. Currently, I am an investigator for IRTA – San Carles de la Rapita studying topics related to fish and shellfish health and nutrition, as well as investigating toxic marine microalgae blooms.
