Career Trajectory
Bio
Andrew J. S. McGonigle received the M.Sci. degree in theoretical physics from the University of St. Andrews, Fife, U.K., in 1995. From 1996 to 2000, he was a D.Phil. student at the University of Oxford, Oxford, U.K. where his research focused on developing high PRF tunable lasers for atmospheric species monitoring.
Since 2001, he has worked at the University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K., using differential optical absorption spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy to remotely sense the chemistry and emission rates of plumes from volcanoes, power stations and biomass burining. He has held a Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Postdoctoral Research Fellowship since 2002.
