个人简介
My primary research goal is to understand bio-mineral interactions in natural formations and utilise the knowledge for development of self-healing, sustainable construction materials. This multidisciplinary bio-civil engineering technology has been mimicked from naturally biomineralized structures as corals, beach rocks, sandstones. This cross-disciplinary research area aims to bridge the gap between Geology, Microbiology and Civil Engineering wherein low energy cements can be formed using fundamental microbial/geological processes. The applications of this research have shown promising outcome in a number of engineering applications ranging from soil stabilisation, dust suppression, concrete and stone remediation, subsurface oil well sealing, CO2 sequestration to heavy metal remediation.
I also have a broad range of interest in microbial based CO2 sequestration, metal and oil recovery, bioremediation of water and soil environments, microbial induced corrosion, microbial ecology and metagenomics.
