His research interest in Thin-Film Electronics span AMOLED displays, large-area and flexible imagers, thin-film circuits such as NFC tags, organic and colloidal photodetectors for VIS and NIR, and polymer ultrasound transducer arrays. Organic and oxide semiconductors lie at the heart of these applications and devices.
As a result of his work on RFID tags with plastic circuits, imec was included in the fifth “Scientific American 50” in 2006 ‘for its business contribution for advancing RFID’. Paul was the recipient of an Advanced Grant of the European Research Council (ERC) on the topic of crystalline organic semiconductors in 2014.
