Bio
Richard Haigh is a Professor of Disaster Resilience and Co-Director of the Huddersfield Centre for Disaster Resilience at the University of Huddersfield. His current research interests include multi-hazard early warning, disaster risk governance and resilience in the built environment.
Richard has secured twenty-eight research grants since 2005. Recent examples as Principal Investigator include:

He is the Founding Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal of Disaster Resilience in the Built Environment and Co-Chair of the 2008, 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2017 International Conferences on Building Resilience. He is one of two UK Advocates to United Nations Disaster Risk Reduction Making Cities Resilient campaign (2009-date) and an Expert Member of Working Group 1 Tsunami Risk, Community Awareness and Preparedness, appointed by IOC UNESCO Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System.
He has delivered over 80 invited speeches and keynote presentations for audiences in over twenty-five countries across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australasia.
Since 1998 he has published: an edited book, published by Wiley Blackwell; nine book chapters in three edited five; Forty five peer reviewed journal articles, the majority of which are in ISI or SCOPUS indexed journals; Sixteen edited conference proceedings; Nineteen journal editorials for ISI and Scopus indexed journals; and, Over thirty research reports.
