The role of plant functional traits in ecosystem function,
Long-term vegetation change, especially related to Machair, sand dunes and grasslands
Upland management for biodiversity including the >Glen Finglas experiment
The relationships between diet, parasites and performance in Soay sheep>, and
Using biodiversity data as indicators for ecosystem health and conservation prioritisation. >
He also maintains an interest in previous areas of research including:
The role large mammals play as seed dispersal agents,
Bracken ecology and control,
The role of seedbanks in vegetation dynamics, and
The impact of management on vegetation dynamics.
