Bio
Professor Selena Bartlett is a brain health and fitness leader. We are so lucky to be in a time where there is a fundamental shift in how we view and treat mental health disorders. Science advanced our understanding of the brain and how to translate this into daily practice. As a leader of neuroscience and neuroplasticity and after studying the brain for more than 30 years, it is clear “to understand the brain as a muscle that needs daily training changes how you view people’s behaviour”.
By the time someone presents with a mental health issue it is like treating someone that has had 5 heart attacks. The future is personalised and preventative. For this work, Professor Bartlett was awarded the Lawrie Austin Award for her contributions to Neuroscience by the Australian Neuroscience Society. She was the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award and the Biotech Research Award and was an Ambassador for the Women in Technology organisation.
Professor Bartlett is the host of the Thriving minds podcast, has written over 100 scientific research articles, recently launched three books to raise awareness about the brain health and to make neuroscience neuroplasticity actionable. We will see change in Society when Brain Health becomes Everyone's Business rather than someone else’s problem.
Professor Bartlett is educating people and speaks to the public about the role of neuroscience and neuroplasticity to improve our daily lives. She presented a TEDx talk about the brain fitness and neuroplasticity revolution underway and is the co-founder and developer of digital brain health solutions focussed on neuroplasticity for brain health. Professor Bartlett is focussed on prevention and developing strategies for brain health by applying neuroplasticity to rewire adverse childhood experiences or ACES from many generations. Professor Bartlett gives lectures to organisations, governments, Universities and schools to raise awareness of the importance of brain health fitness to be resilient, happy, healthy and strong.
