Peirce and Bowditch

Henry Pickering Bowditch and Charles Sanders Peirce made important contributions to the ideas of regression and correlation. This is particularly interesting as these contributions came well before the work of Galton and Pearson. This article discusses the work of Bowditch related to the development of regression and presents Peirce's coefficient of the science of the method, an association coefficient for a 2 x 2 contingency table.
