Photon Frontier Network

A new 10-year program "Photon Frontier Network" has been started in 2008 in Japan in order to establish strong bases in research and education in optical science and technology. This network is formed by many scientists belonging to various organizations in broad range of fields, and with industrial participation. The basic structure and objectives of this program are described.
