Taylor Analysis for {111}<112> Twinning on One System and {111}<110> Slip Under Tension and Compression Flow Conditions

Linear programming techniques were used to obtain the solutions of Taylor analysis for {111}<112> twinning and {111}<110> slip under conditions of axisymmetric flow: tension and compression. The usual Taylor analysis, which considers that twinning and dislocation slip occur in 12 systems for each mechanism (total systems equal to 24), is compared with an identical analysis but under the assumption that twinning only activates one twinning system (among the 12 possible twinning systems), which leads to a total number of 13 systems (12 for dislocation slip and 1 for twinning). This hypothesis comes from the fact that the critical resolved shear stress for twinning depends on the number of active twinning systems: it is the lowest when only one twinning system is active.
