Effect of octahedral tilt transitions on the properties of perovskites and related materials

The influence of octahedral tilt transitions on electric properties is rarely considered and poorly understood. Recent work has identified a relationship between the tolerance factor, octahedral tilting and the temperature coefficient of the dielectric constant (tau(epsilon)) in Sr and Ba based complex perovskites. This paper discusses the relationship between octahedral tilting and properties in the perovskite related compounds, Ba(6-3x)Ln(8+2x)Ti(18)O(54) and SrBi(4)Ti(4)O(15).
