Activité comparée du céfotaxime et de la ceftriaxone sur Streptococcus pneumoniae

The evolution of antimicrobial resistance of Streptococcus pneumoniae requires the determination of the MICs to antibiotics, particularly β-lactams. The third-generation cephalosporins are the empirical drugs of choice for pneumococcal infections, essentially meningitis, in areas of the world where penicillin-resistant pneumococci are prevalent. The aim of this study was to compare the MIC of cefotaxime and ceftriaxone obtained by the reference agar dilution method. The results showed a complete equivalence of the two molecules against S. pneumoniae.
