Abstract: Studies and tools development for applications sensitive to data rates is a very active research fieldfor distributed application performance optimization. The research community works to proposetools for measuring the end-to-end performance of a link between two hosts. Delay measurementsprovide a first approximation but aren't su#cient enough because the delay isn't a relevant metric.
