摘要
A new configuration is proposed for the realization of an X-ray detector. It is based on an inorganic scintillator optically coupled to a ribbon of fluorescent optical fibres in such a way that a high detection efficiency may be obtained. This advantage may be very important, especially for the detection of high-energy photons. For example, X-ray absorption greater than 95% for photons up to 300 keV and greater than 33% for 5 MeV photons may be achieved. A model has been developed to determine the influence of the main parameters of the system. Numerous computer simulation results are presented. They show that a spatial resolution around 0.5 mm may be expected. The very first experimental results are also presented.
