摘要
A detector for the study of neutrino oscillations with a projected sensitivity for DELTAm2 of 10(-3)eV2 and a mixing angle sensitivity of sin2 2theta = 0.1 is described. The detector is a segmented 12 ton liquid scintillator with neutron background rejection based on a coincidence between a positron and its annihilation radiation. It will be installed at a distance of 0.65 km from the San Onofre reactors, at a depth of 25 mwe below surface, surrounded by neutron buffer and an active muon veto. The projected event rate will be 17 d-1. Detailed studies of the detector are presented.
