A semi-automated method for analysing hemispherical photographs for the assessment of woodland shade

Hemispherical photography is a useful technique for the assessment and monitoring of the light climate in woodland habitats. Usually the interpretation of the photographs is a slow and tedious task when done manually. A faster semi-automated procedure is described which compares favourably with the manual method.
