A comparative study on purple sweet potato varieties in Guangxi.

In the present study, eight new purple sweet potatoes bred by Guangxi Maize Research Institute were selected for comparative experiments in eight locations in Guangxi,Ningzishu 1 was used as the control. The results showed that the performance of Gui 07-160 was better than other varieties for yield (fresh weight and dry weigh), better taste, wide adaptability, etc., and it could be extended for large scale production in Guangxi. The average yield (fresh weight) of Gui 06-123 was the second with good taste and better adaptability, so Gui 06-123 can also be extended for large scale production in Guangxi. Gui 07-157 had the highest dry matter ratio (37.1%) and the third ranking in yield, and it was suitable for utilizing as energy sweet potato. Gui 06-280, Gui 05-180 and Gui 05-188 had middle performance and were found to be suitable for planting in different areas of Guangxi. Gui 12 and Gui 04-96 showed poor performance.
