Left ventricular assistance by percutaneous impella recover LP 2.5™ during post resuscitation shock

Introduction: The post-resuscitation syndrome is characterised by a low cardiac output caused partly by transient left ventricular (LV) systolic dysfunction, which is usually reversible within 48 h. This may lead to multiple organ failure and contributes to a high mortality. The Impella Recover LP 2.5™ is a miniaturized rotary axial pump that can be inserted percutaneously through the aortic valve in order to provide an additional LV outflow. Our main goal was to assess the feasibility, complications and outcome of Impella Recover LP 2.5™ cardiac assistance in post cardiac arrest patients with post resuscitation shock.
