Evolution from a Fermi Towards a Non-Fermi-liquid Ground State in U1-xThxPd2Al3investigated by Optical Methods

Abstract The Kondo alloys U1-xThxPd2Al3 give us the unique possibility to monitor the evolution from a conventional Fermi-liquid (for x 0.4). We conducted optical investigations over a broad frequency range from 15 to 105 cm−1, from where we evaluated the frequency dependence of the scattering relaxation rate at various temperatures. This latter quantity incorporates the different fingerprints associated with either a Fermi-liquid for x 0.4.
