TELE-EDUCATION EXPERIENCES WITH THE ISABEL APPLICATION

This paper decribes experience of usage of the ISABEL application as well as the basic elements and functionality of the application. ISABEL is a configurable CSCW application which has been conceived with a toolbox approach such that it can be taylored to the requirements of different application domains with a small effort. ISABEL supports N to N conferencing with tele-presence, shared workspace and interaction control. ISABEL has been experienced in a variety of Tele-education experiments where auditoriums or workstations were interconnected. Experiments include the RACE Summer Schools on Advanced Broadband Communications in 1993, 1994 and 1995, IDC´95 in Madeira or in the distribution of courses among universities.
