Critical Theory

This article defines critical theory within its historical context and describes how the legacy of Western and European philosophical traditions – through the Frankfurt School – has led to the creation of multiple and diverse critical theories around the world. By articulating key concepts and issues in critical theory, this article illustrates how education, school reform, and revolutionary pedagogies can be engaged through critical theory.
