Abstract The gamma dose rate in a nuclear reactor has been measured by using 14CO2 as the gaseous chemical dosimeter. High sensitivity of the dosimetry was attained by measurements of the specific radioactivity of the radiolyzed product, 14CO relative to that of 14CO2.
