Change in the vacancy concentration in a migrating grain boundary

The previously developed model of migration of incommensurate tilt boundaries is applied to obtain a relationship for the average fraction of grain-boundary vacancies, which is higher than the volume fraction. The concentration of vacancies near a boundary is shown to increase linearly with its migration velocity.
