Resultados preliminares da artroplastia do quadril metal-metal de superfície: análise dos primeiros 40 casos com seguimento médio de 3 anos

SUMMARY Forty hips (39 patients) were subjected to metal-on-metal hip replacement (resurfacing) between 2002 to 2005. Evaluation was performed with clinical examination and radiography. The authors performed clinical evaluations, before and after surgery. The specific criteria applied was the D'Aubigné and Postel classification. Radio- lucent lines were recorded around the acetabular component in the zones described by DeLee and Charnley and around the femoral component in the zones described by Amstutz et al. The mean age was 54.40 years. The minimum follow-up was 14 months (12 months to 51 months). 94.44% of the patients studied were satis- fied during the pos-surgical period. There were 2 aseptic loosening and no neck-femoral fractures during the follow-up period. The authors concluded that the preliminary experience with this surgical technique and implants were satisfying, and the earlier results with 3 years of follow-up were good.
