Emergenza caldo: gli anziani nella città di Napoli Heat emergency: old people in the city of Naples

Methods: An increase in assistance was obtained through keeping the outpa- tients department open, reserving places at the Nursing Homes for family relief, identification of "preferential procedures" in specific Hospital Complexes, func- tional integration of the resources set-up by the Health Authority and by the Co- mune of Naples and setting-up and use of two home operating teems (geriatri- cian and professional nurse). Results: 91.1% of patients followed by our service had the medical problems for which they were enrolled resolved. 6.6% patients were intrusted to home assis- tance. 4 patients used the places for family relief in Nursing Homes. Only 2 pa- tients were trasfered to the Hospital. No death occurred.
