Building Storage Registers from Crash-Recovery Processes

Abstract: This paper defines a new type of register,called a storage register, to represent blocksof a replicated logical volume built from a distributedcollection of disks. We give a formal specificationof storage registers and, in doing so, we extendlinearizability to a crash-recovery model.
