Knowingis the concept holding a decisive position in Sun Tzu's The Art of War,which runs through thirteen chapters indicating knowing oneself and the enemy,the weather and the terrain.In The Water Margin,profound military principles and approaches in military works and strategies are written in series of gorgeous battles of wit and courage,which demonstrates variety of principles of military operation.A succession of various perplexing battles reflect Chinese ancient profound military thoughts.This paper,taking the three sieges of Zhu Village as an example,interprets Sun Tzu'sknowingconnotation contained in the success and failure of the heroes of Liangshan Marsh
