3,4-Dimethylindole-2-carboxylate and 4-(1-hydroxyethyl)quinoline-2-carboxylate activating enzymes from the nosiheptide and thiostrepton producers, Streptomyces actuosus and Streptomyces laurentii

Highly specific enzymes which activate 3,4-dimethylindole-2-carboxylate (DMI) and 4-(1-hydroxyethyl)quinoline-2-carboxylate (HEQ) to their acyl adenylates have been detected in cell-free extracts of the nosiheptide and thiostrepton producers, S. actuosus and S. laurentii, by an ATP/PP(i) exchange assay.
