A vibrational spectroscopic study of diammine diisocyanatocopper(II), Cu(NCO)2(NH3)2

The infrared and Raman spectra of Cu(NCO)2(NH3)2 are reported and comparisons made with the vibrational spectrum of Zn(NCO)2(NH3)2. Skeletal vibrational assignments have been made which are consistent with a trans-planar configuration and centrosymmetric D2h symmetry. There is no spectroscopic evidence for bridging cyanate ligands, in contrast with previous experimental reports.
