摘要
Background: Several studies analyzed clinical and electrophysiological data for patients with accessory pathways, most of them not Brazilian and based on a relatively small number of patients. Objective: To describe the number and location of the accessory pathways in Brazilian patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted of 1,465 consecutive patients with accessory pathways who u n d e r w e n t e l e c t r o p h y s i o l o g i c a l s t u d y a n d radiofrequency ablation. They were evaluated by gender, age at the time of ablation, number of accessory pathways per patient and location of accessory pathways. Results: The patients had a total of 1,540 accessory pathways; 66 of them (4.5%) had multiple accessory pathways; 36.6% of these accessory pathways were located in the left lateral region, 9.7% in the left posterior region, 26.4% in the posteroseptal region, 10.2% in the medioseptal region, 5.1% in the anteroseptal region, 10.6% in the right lateral region and 1.4% in the right posterior region. Conclusions: The 1,465 patients had a total of 1,540 accessory pathways, with 66 patients (4.5%) having multiple accessory pathways, being more frequent in patients ≤18 years old. The left lateral accessory pathways were most prevalent.
