摘要
Background: It has been suggested that residual/recurrent mitral regurgitation (MR) following mitral valve repair is more frequent in bileaflet mitral prolapse than that in single leaflet prolapse [ [1] David T.E. Ivanov J. Armstrong S. Christie D. Rakowski H. A comparison of outcomes of mitral valve repair for degenerative disease with posterior, anterior, and bileaflet prolapse. J Thorac Cardiovasc Surg. 2005; 130: 1242-1249 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (286) Google Scholar ]. Importantly, optimal or reproducible procedure to repair bileaflet prolapse associated with myxomatous degeneration has not been established, though a variety of surgical techniques have been reported. This study aimed to review mid-term surgical outcomes of patients having bileaflet mitral prolapse, operated by a single surgeon, who has consistently performed replacement of multiple chordae using “loop-technique” [ [2] Kuntze T. et al. Early and mid-term results of mitral valve repair using premeasured Gore-Tex loops (‘loop technique’). Eur J Cardiothorac Surg. 2008; 33: 566-572 Crossref PubMed Scopus (58) Google Scholar ] to avoid excision/resection of the leaflets.
