Discrete Mathematics in the High School Curriculum

Discrete mathematics as a body of knowledge is necessary in today's technological world. The exact content of a discrete mathematics course still remains vague and mathematicians are uncertain of where the study of discrete mathematics should be emphasized. After examining discrete mathematics at the college level this paper looks at the possibility that discrete mathematics could begin in pre‐collegiate mathematics courses, that retraining of teachers is necessary, and that a different focus must be taken to meet the needs of today's student and the use of discrete mathematics.
