Simplification of perforated panels for CFD simulation under isothermal jet

As a kind of air terminal device, perforated panels are widely used in engineering, but there is still some inconvenience in describing this device employing existing air supply opening models. The simplification of perforated panels is studied making use of CFD (computational fluid dynamics). A simplification method is proposed and the defining principles for the boundary conditions are given. The air jet theory is applied in a CFD simulation to verify the accuracy of the air jet from a perforated panel. Results show that the air jet from perforated panels can be quickly and accurately calculated with the newly proposed method. ©2012 American Scientific Publishers. All rights reserved.
