RMS: Reliable Multicast System Based on UDP and NAK Window.

Reliable multicast is an efficient technique to ensure reliable delivery and save bandwidth in LAN communication, especially in distributed system. This paper describes a Reliable Multicast System design and presents its performance. Both of RMS's sender and receiver multicast data packet with UDP. In order to achieve reliability, receivers will feedback NAK window (NAKWND) when they detect the loss, thereby sender will retransmit the lost packets. Furthermore, RMS has a combination of window sliding control and rate control to increase RMS's adaption to the network environment. With these features, we aim to achieve a lightweight RMS design while ensuring excellent performance.
