Two novel C-type lectins with a low-density lipoprotein receptor class A domain have antiviral function in the shrimp Marsupenaeus japonicus

•LdlrLec1 and LdlrLec2 expression were obviously upregulated upon WSSV challenge.•Injection of rLdlrLec1 and rLdlrLec2 into shrimp inhibited WSSV replication.•Knocking down the expression of LdlrLec1 and 2 increased WSSV replication in vivo.•LdlrLec1 and LdlrLec2 interact with VP28 of WSSV and inhibit the viral infection.
