SiC particles reinforced MoSi2 composites

By means of wet mixing and hot pressing, SiCp/MoSi2 composites were prepared with different volumes of SiC (10, 20 and 30vol%). Fracture toughness at room temperature (K1c) was estimated with indentation method, and bending strength was determined by 3 point method at room temperature and at high temprature (1200 ��C). From the experimental results, it can be confirmed that this kinds of composites is much better than the basic material MoSi2 in mechanical properties.
