摘要
Objective:To explore the expression and the relationship between Aurora A and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) protein in gliomas. Methods: The expression of Aurora A and PCNA was determined by immunohistochemistry method in 80 cases of gliomas and 10 cases of normal brain tissues. Results: The positive rate of Aurora A expression was 57.5% (46/80), and the positive rate of PCNA was 65.0% (52/80) in the gliomas patients. While no expression of Aurora A or PCNA was found in all the normal brain tissues. The expression levels of Aurora A and PCNA in high grade gliomas were significantly higher than in low grade group (P0.01). The expression of Aurora A had positive correlation with the expression of PCNA protein (P0.01). Conclusion: The expression of Aurora A and PCNA are related to the malignant degree of glioma, and might cooperate with each other in the tumor genesis and progression. Both Aurora A and PCNA should be considered as the indicators of the biological behavior in glioma.
