Two-dimensional metamaterial for surface wave propagation with scanning metallic defect for permittivity imaging

摘要
A perforated metal plate, working as a two-dimensional metamaterial to support surface wave propagation, plays a role of an imaging head of permittivity mapping at millimeter-wave ranges. One noninvasive metallic probe is swept two-dimensionally along the metamaterial surface to induce near field to detect the corresponding local permittivity. This configuration is applicable to detection of disease tissues for medical uses.
