Modelling Wireless Signal Fading in Boreal Forests
WCSN '14 Proceedings of the 2014 International Conference on Wireless Communication and Sensor Network(2014)
Abstract
Both the spatial and temporal distributions of received signal power in wireless communications are often modeled as log- normal without any further discussion. This paper presents a field study of temporal signal fading in a test site situated in an area of boreal forest near Mandy Lake, Alberta. In it we give a statistical verification of the assumption that temporal signal fading obeys the log- normal distribution. Some conclusions based on wireless signal propagation are also made.
