Drug testing with use of POCT]

Drug testing with the use of point of care testing (POCT) has been widely used in Japan, especially in the field of drug abuse, poisoning, and anticoagulant therapy with warfarin. For evidence-based medicine of POCT, an interesting report was presented by the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry in the United States as the guideline in 2006. Users of POCT devices should understand all limitations of the devices. This strength/consensus recommendation is strong and the level of evidence is high. In this field, cyan, arsenic, paraquat, organic phosphate, methanol, acetaminophen, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, antidepressants, and some other drugs were detected by POCT devices such as Triage DOA and a detector tube system and others in Japan.
