•BaP-treated adult tilapias were exposed to a graded hypoxia protocol.•Experimental conditions did not affect biometric parameters.•Bile BaP concentration was decreased, but BaP-induced CYP1A mRNA levels was not.•Plasma glucose was increased, but not plasma lactate or hepatic LDH mRNA levels.•Hypoxia and BaP interactions may include elimination of BaP and glucose metabolism.
