Bone mineral density changes following discontinuation of ronacaleret treatment: off-treatment extension of a randomized, dose-finding phase II trial.

•Ronacaleret treatment results in gains in bone mineral density at the lumbar spine.•The increases in bone mineral density were maintained or increased after discontinuation of ronacaleret.•Ronacaleret treatment was associated with bone loss at the total hip; attenuation of bone loss was observed after ronacaleret discontinuation.
