One novel functional Cd-CPs as luminescent sensor for efficient sensing of Fe3+ cations in aqueous solution

One novel coordination polymer derived from 3,5-di(2′,5′-dicarboxylphenyl)benozoic acid (H5ddb) in the presence of 1,1′-benzene-1,4-diylbis(1H-imidazole) (p-bib) ancillary linker has been synthesized solvothermally, namely, {[Cd2.5(H5ddb)(p-bib)]·(p-bib)0.5(H2O)5}n (CP1). Then CP1 was characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, IR, elemental analyses (EA), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and X-ray powder diffraction (PXRD). Structural analysis reveals that the host-framework of CP1 exhibits a novel 3D (4,6)-connected net with the point symbol of {43.610.82} {43.63}. The interaction between host-framework and uncoordinated p-bib ligand as guest molecule has been discussed in detail. The solid-state luminescence property of CP1 was tested under ultraviolet light irradiation at ambient condition. In further experiment, CP1 showed a high selectivity and sensitivity for detecting Fe3+ cations caused by luminescence quenching effect.
