摘要

•ZnO nanoparticles were synthesized by microwave assisted route.•ZnO electrodes were prepared by doctor blade technique.•Ultrathin alumina and silica layers were coated on ZnO by liquid phase deposition.•Enhanced photovoltaic performance was observed for alumina coated ZnO DSSCs.
