Mechanical stress effect on leakage current in Bi3.25La0.75Ti3O12 thin films

•Bi3.25La0.75Ti3O12 films were prepared by metalorganic decomposition method.•Stress effect on the leakage current was studied.•Stress is helpful in suppressing the leakage current in high field region.•Leakage current decreases with increasing stress in high field region.•Stress has negligible impact on leakage current in low field region.
