A variety of surface boundary conditions are examined for the purpose of modelling thin metallic film characteristics in microwave heating systems. The numerical formulation for the inclusion of each boundary condition is presented in a frequency domain finite element formulation. Verification is provided in a single and multimode context with the aid of analytical and thermal methods respectively.
