摘要
There have been numerous poisoners and poisoning cases throughout history. Some ancient incidents, such as the poisoning of Socrates, are intriguing due to their historical significance while other incidents, such as the 1982 Chicago Tylenol murders, are notable because of the panic they induced and the pharmaceutical packaging changes that occurred in order to prevent future nefarious poisonings. This chapter will review several notorious poisoners and poisonings including the death of Socrates, the Chicago Tylenol Poisonings, the Borgia family, Giulia Toffana, William Palmer, Harold Shipman, Georgi Markov, Michael Swango, Alexander Litvenko, Viktor Yuschenko, Sergei and Yulia Skirpal, and Alexei Navanly.
